Ancient Egyptian blue painted ware mixing jar from Amarna dated 1352 – 1336 BC

Blue painted / Malkata ware storage jar, restored from fragments. Wide mouth, narrowing neck, then the vessel flares outwards to the shoulders and then narrows in again to a curved base. Bands of painted decoration just below the rim, as the neck the body of the vessel and at the shoulders. Each band has a powder blue background, with orangey beige petals outlined in black repeating over it. The effect being similar to a woven floral garland. The rest of the vessel is a red colour (perhaps when the pot was put back together in the early twentieth century.)
