Ancient Egyptian textile fragment from Tanis San el Hagar dated AD 395 – 642

Tapestry woven linen. On a ground of red wool a lozenge design formed by a waving floral stem with small hexagons at the intersections, worked in undyed flax. The centres are filled with rosettes in flax thread.
