Ancient Egyptian textile fragment from Tanis San el Hagar dated AD 395 – 642

Tapestry woven border stitched to linen tunic. Flax warps, red wool weft, with design tapestry woven in undyed flax. Border of black and purple wool in broad waved bars.

Tapestry and plain weave. Tapestry 10 warps per cm. Tightly Z twist warps.
