Ancient Egyptian textile fragment from Tanis San el Hagar dated AD 395 – 642

Fragments of linen garment with aband about 75mm wide stitched on. Red wool warp with pattern of birds and floral devices woven in undyed flax.

Plain woven linen. 16 warps per cm. 16 wefts per cm. Decorative band – 13 warps per cm. 8 wefts per cm.
